The Best Cars Of 2010

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the best car in the upper executive segment, while the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the best sports car. These are the results of a reader survey conducted by one of Germany’s well-known specialist car magazines, “auto motor und sport”. The E-Class and SLS have therefore both walked away with the title “Best car of 2010″.

The editorial team of “auto motor und sport” asked readers to vote on some 326 vehicles across ten categories, and no fewer than 96,784 respondents answered the call to cast their votes in the traditional reader survey to find the best cars of the year. This is the thirty-fourth time that the respected specialist publication has conducted the survey.

In the upper executive segment, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class emerged victorious against the competition to claim its crown as “The best car of 2010″. In awarding this honour, the readers acknowledged the special position enjoyed by the E-Class as the most successful business saloon. Among its many features, it benefits from a dynamic design, innovative technology, exemplary comfort, and also a high degree of economic efficiency. It also comes with a unique combination of driver assistance systems, including for example ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, and DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control together with PRE-SAFE Brake, which automatically applies emergency braking if there is an acute risk of an accident.

In the case of the sports car, the readers of “auto motor und sport” placed the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in pole position, thereby honouring the new gullwing model as the best car of 2010 in its category, and as such paying tribute to both its uniquely exciting design as well its advanced technology. The super sports car excels with its uncompromising lightweight construction, superior driving dynamics and exemplary safety. These attributes are ensured by a unique technology package consisting of a lightweight aluminium spaceframe body, AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid-engine with dry sump lubrication producing 420 kW (571 hp), seven-speed double-declutch transmission in a transaxle arrangement and a sports suspension with aluminium double wishbones. This combination guarantees dynamic performance at the very highest level. The gullwing model accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 317 km/h.

The Campaign for The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Mercedes-Benz is completely redefining the speed, driving dynamics and design of the super sports car. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Constructed primarily from aluminium, it tips the scales at just 1620 kilograms, which equates to 2.84 kilograms per hp – an absolute peak value in the super sports car segment, guaranteeing driving dynamics in a class of their own.

With its gullwing doors, long bonnet and an instrument panel which is reminiscent of an aircraft cockpit, it embodies a powerful and passionate sportiness, coupled with exceptional elegance. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an invitation to “take off” with all of the senses. This desire for a completely new driving sensation is also a highlight of the integrated marketing campaign which was launched at the vehicle’s world premiere in September at the International Motor Show (IAA), and is gradually building up to its market introduction in the first quarter of 2010.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

Sportservice Lorinser is one of the top addresses for the exclusive refinement of Mercedes automobiles. The company located in Waiblingen in Southern Germany once again confirms this with the new Mercedes E-Coupé. An entire tuning program is available and renders the two-door car an even more dynamic and significantly more individual mark.

Sporty elegance is the hallmark of the Lorinser aerodynamics set: The stylishly adjusted components of the front bumper with the integrated LED daytime running lights and the new radiator grill form the front of the Lorinser E-Coupé into a dynamic center of attention. Moreover, the roof- and rear lip and the rear bumper add-on part in diffuser look harmonise congenially. The dynamic appearance is perfected by the new side skirts. The earthy and impressive sound stems from the Lorinser sports exhaust system. The stainless steel rear muffler with its edged dual tailpipes perfectly integrates into the newly designed rear section. But Lorinser does not only focus on a powerful sound. Optimised engine control units for performance increase are currently in preparation.

The light-alloy wheels program is impressive in terms of its dimension and selection. No matter if you are looking for something dynamic, luxurious or noble – Lorinser offers varying wheel designs and sizes. The latest development is the one-piece 20-inch light-alloy wheel RS9. The light-alloy wheels are especially emphasised by progressively winded suspension springs which lower the E-Class Coupés´ center of gravity by 30 millimetres at the front and rear axle. For models with serial Airmatic, Lorinser developed a set for manual lowering.

Following the style of the traditional brand Mercedes which puts large emphasis on comfort, elegance, but also sportiness in the interior, Sportservice Lorinser offers unobtrusive interior applications. Aluminium pedals and an instrument cluster with a scaling of up to 330 km/h accentuate the car in a dynamic way. Another elegant touch is rendered by the floor mat set with leather lining and embroidered Lorinser emblem as well as the illuminated door sills.
