Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG eDrive coming by the end of 2012

During the official launch of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing in the United States, AMG chief, Mr. Volker Mornhinweg announced the electric version of the new supercar for late 2012 or early 2013. The new electric car, dubbed SLS eDrive, will carry four electric motors capable to deliver an impressive 533 hp and 880 Nm of torque.

With these numbers, the vehicle will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds while the top speed will be 200+ km/h. The range will be between 150 or 180 km. The new SLS AMG eDrive will be the direct rival of the new Audi e-Tron which will also hit the market in the same period. For those who don’t know, the e-Tron will carry four electric motors which will deliver 313 hp and an impressive 4,500 Nm of torque. The Audi will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and from 60 to 120 km/h in 4.1 seconds while the range will be arround 250 km.
