The Audi TT had initially been offered only in a coupe bodystyle. It had an overall luggage capacity of 290 liters (extendable to 700 liters by folding the rear bench). Powering the car was either a 2.0L turbocharged TFSI engine delivering 200 hp or a 250-hp naturally aspired 3.2L V6. Both were connected to a standard 6-speed manual transmission (S tronic dual-clutch gearbox was optional).
